Crespi Bonsai Cup: dedicated to experts and collectors of bonsais who will take part with their masterpieces.
Crespi Shohin Cup: dedicated to experts and collectors of bonsais of small sizes who will take part with their best trees.
Enthusiasts' Exhibition: dedicated to all bonsai amateurs.
Crespi Suiseki Cup: dedicated to all collectors of suisekis, the wonderful landscape stones.
Crespi Pot Cup: dedicated to collectors of pots and pot masters.

BCI Award of Recognition
In the occasion of the international event, Willi Benz and Massimo Bandera, Bonsai Club International's managers, will give the BCI Award of Recognition to bonsai, shohin, suiseki and pot categories.

Exhibition of xylographies, "Mount Fuji by Hokusai"
Original xylographies from "The hundreds views of Fuji" (Fugaku Hyakkei) by Hokusai, exhibition arranged by Lorenzo Sonzini.

Koi carps in exhibition
Three extraordinary Koi carps in exhibition: a Koyo carp, 67 cm long, with its beautiful colours (yellow and light grey); a Mukashi Ogon carp, 90 cm long, with its golden colour; a Doitsu Karashigoi carp, 92 cm long, without scales and with a brilliant yellow colour.

Irezumi tattoo exhibition
Claudio Pittan will arrange, during the event, the exhibition "Irezumi: the Japanese tattoo in Claudio Pittan's eyes".

Shows Lectures Demonstrations Courses

Demonstrations of advanced bonsai techniques at the Crespi Cup Famous Japanese masters will work on old trees, using special, advanced formation techniques. They will also give workshops on bonsai for all bonsai amateurs. The Crespi Cup will welcome as special guests Mr. Kentaro Shino, one of the most appreciated Japanese bonsai artists of new generation, Mr. Masakuni Kawasumi III, of the famous family making tools, for the first time in Europe, Mr. Nobuyuki Kajiwara, one of the most important Japanese experts in European bonsai, teacher at the Università del Bonsai Crespi.
Lecture on suiseki:
Willi Benz, well known expert in the field, will help you to better understand the fascinating landscape stones.
Courses, demonstrations and lectures on bonsai and suiseki (the landscape stones)

for a direct contact with nature and its elements, to create with them a positive, dynamic equilibrium.

Manga, mythology and Japanese culture traditions
The Japanese culture is very appreciated in the West, not only for its fascinating arts and spirituality, but also for its comic strip stories.
Washi paper

Kentaro Shino at the age of 18, after the high school, he started the usual 5 year apprenticeship with a bonsai master and at the age of 24 he founded his own garden, the Tamaju-en. Last year one of his masterpieces, a Camellia, gained the Kokufu Exhibition prize, being the first Camellia bonsai that received the prize, in 83 editions!

Masakuni Kawasumi III took over the chair of the famous bonsai tool factory after his father’s death in 2002. Among his last recognitions the Grand Prize given by the Kawaguchi City Industrial Engineers and Technicians Association in 1998 and, in the same year, the official appointment as Tree Doctor obtained by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Nobuyuki Kajiwara has been teaching bonsai art in Italy at the Crespi Bonsai University since its establishment in 1992 and he takes care of the development of the Crespi Bonsai Museum masterpieces. He regularly gives lectures and courses in various European and non-European countries, where he also takes care of important bonsai collections. His sensible approach to bonsai trees is the result of the long experience gained in different geographic conditions and of his great respect for nature.

Willi Benz has played a major part in popularizing the art of suiseki in his native Germany and throughout Europe. He established the German Suiseki Society and the German Bonsai Club. In addition, he is member of Bonsai Club International - proving his devotion to yet another popular Oriental art. He wrote a number of books about suiseki and bonsai. He gives many conferences all over the world.

FREE ACCESS

The entrance to all the technical demonstrations, lectures and shows is completely free, like part of the workshops.
During the event it will be possible to visit also the Crespi Bonsai nurseries.

CRESPI BONSAI MUSEUM

For the length of the event it will be possible to participate in guided visits to the famous Crespi Bonsai Museum. Founded in 1991 it includes centuries-old trees and even thousands-old trees like the unique Ficus retusa Linn, but also ancient pots.

ORIENTALSHOP

Throughout the event a little market of typical Oriental objects like fans, little umbrellas, varnishes, incenses and porcelains will be at visitors' disposal. An area will be dedicated to the most ancient drink of the world: the tea, with various mixtures, teapots, cups and accessories from Japan and China.

Vote the bonsai tree you like best, according to your own judgment, from the exhibition-competition "Enthusiasts' Exhibition". Among all those who will vote, the winner of a beautiful bonsai will be drawn.
